Sewing the bolero

I started by sewing the back seam, then the shoulder and side seams. It was pretty quick since.

After sewing the seams I tested out the side cutter foot. It is ok, it is much slower than a serger because of the way it stitches and having 2 threads as oppose to 4 or 5. The cutting was not as smooth as a serger. However the finish is nicer than anything I could do any other standard sewing machine I have had. I also trimmed one seam and stitched it with the overedge foot that came with the machine, it turned out the same as the ones I did with the side cutter foot. When reading the reveiws before buying the side cutter foot, I read that it is slower and messier than a serger. Both are true. But with cleaning the machine after each use (should clean in once in a while anyway escpecally since this fabric frays easily) it is a distant second to the serger, the foot will tide me over until sew enough seams to clear the sewing table.

I still have to put the bands on it but I love how this is turning out. I tried it on when I got this point and it should fit great.
