Finishing up alterations

I finished up the alterations for the dress that the zipper was already coming undone on.

I started by folding over the strap about an inch (in the back) and pinning it.

Then I hand stitched on all 4 sides of the fold, securing with knots the last few stitches.

Then I pinned and hand stitched the side zipper in place. I chose to hand stitch it in place because of the fabric and the fact that the sparkles on the dress could break needles easily.

I chose not to trim off the excess because this lining and sash fabric would fray easily. After finishing both halves of the side with the zipper I started on the other side. It was pretty much the same except I didn’t have to repeat the process twice.

And now it fits me perfectly. The zipper isn’t quite as invisible as it used to be but it won’t be noticeable because it is a side zipper.
